The Student Record System (SRS) Programme is a multi\-year, institution\-wide initiative to replace our core student data infrastructure with a modern, integrated suite of best\-in\-class systems. Spanning a new student record system, admissions platform, international compliance automation, and curriculum management system; all connected through a Central Data Hub

This programme will fundamentally improve how students, staff, and partners experience Cardiff Met.

You will lead multi\-disciplinary technical workstream teams, managing complex, concurrent projects across software engineering, system integration, and data migration. Working closely with colleagues in IT, Registry, academic Schools, Marketing and Student Recruitment, as well as external suppliers, you will ensure that technical solutions are delivered on time, to quality, and with lasting benefits for staff and students.

You’ll lead the way by:

  • Providing leadership and matrix management for multi\-disciplinary technical workstream teams, ensuring project outcomes are delivered to agreed time, cost, and quality criteria.

  • Comprehensively planning and managing all aspects of the technical workstream, from initial feasibility and resource allocation through to risk management, implementation, and transition to business as usual.

  • Managing and maintaining governance, stakeholder engagement, and communication arrangements for designated technical projects, with robust reporting of progress, benefits, risks, issues, dependencies, and budget.

  • Leading multiple concurrent deliverables within the SRS technical workstream, ensuring appropriate governance and reporting mechanisms are in place to manage progress and any risks or dependencies.

  • Managing relationships with external suppliers and partners involved in development or implementation, ensuring robust and productive working arrangements are maintained.

  • Planning and managing the transition from project state to BAU, ensuring user acceptance testing is completed to the Programme Board’s satisfaction and all handover documentation is signed off by relevant stakeholders.

  • Providing support, advice, and guidance to decision makers including SRS Programme Board members.
What you’ll bring

You will be an experienced technical project manager with a proven track record of leading IT delivery projects in complex organisations, ideally including software engineering, system integration, and data migration. You will bring the technical literacy to interrogate documentation, lead technical conversations, and translate complex concepts for non\-expert audiences, alongside the interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate multi\-disciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders at every level.

You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, navigating supplier relationships, and maintaining strong governance under pressure. A relevant project management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner is essential, and experience of implementing SaaS solutions and managing Agile workstreams will be important to success in this role.

You will also have:

  • Experience of managing Agile developments and implementing SaaS solutions.

  • Demonstrable experience of engaging and managing external suppliers and consultants as part of project delivery.

  • Ability to translate strategic vision and programme objectives into clear project plans and deliverables.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and communication skills across a range of stakeholders.
