The Opportunity

Our Planning and Controls team is a centre of excellence within Arup’s Project and Programme Management (PPM) practice. The team supports a wide range of engineering projects across the business. The team is seeking a controller with strong technical expertise in planning and controls to support consultancy commissions, including major infrastructure delivery, for established Arup clients with a substantial pipeline of work.

The role includes: Programme development and maintenance, reporting and analysis (Prepare technical reports and analyse contractor programmes, including NEC4 and ICME submissions, and advise on programme acceptance), stakeholder engagement, supporting QSRA activities as needed and supporting change control through impact assessments and by updating the master schedule to reflect approved changes.

Is this role right for you?

As a Project Controller, you will support the delivery of complex infrastructure and engineering projects through high\-quality planning and project controls. You will bring strong capability in programme development, schedule review, reporting, change control and performance analysis, helping clients and project teams understand progress, manage risk and make informed delivery decisions.

This role will suit someone with experience in project controls, planning or scheduling within complex delivery environments, who enjoys working with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. You will combine strong analytical skills, clear communication and a collaborative approach with the ability to apply project controls good practice in a practical and delivery\-focused way.

You will be able to demonstrate your understanding, skill and experience in the following areas:

  • Developing and maintaining project programmes and schedules to support delivery across complex infrastructure and engineering projects. Including preparing clear technical and progress reports that highlight issues, impacts, opportunities and mitigation measures.

  • Reviewing contractor and consultant programmes, including NEC and other contractual schedule submissions, and supporting decisions on acceptance and change.

  • Supporting compensation event assessment, change control and schedule updates, with a clear understanding of programme and commercial implications.

  • Applying project controls techniques across schedule, cost, risk, change and reporting, including earned value management where appropriate. Including working with project teams in complex delivery environments, including large EPC programmes, to provide clear analysis and practical recommendations.

  • Using Primavera P6, Power BI and other digital tools effectively to support planning, analysis and reporting.
