Job Details

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the work focusing on redesigning how Fife Council responds to initial contact and referrals, shifting from a high\-volume No Further Action toward earlier, preventative, community\-based support through the No Wrong Door (NWD) Multi ‑ Agency Screening and Support model. The aim is to reduce unnecessary statutory intervention, strengthen early help pathways, improve multi\-agency collaboration, and better address unmet lower\- to medium\-level needs to prevent escalation and repeat contacts.

This senior role leads the screening, coordination, and assessment of initial contacts and referrals, ensuring individuals and families receive the right support at the right time. Operating within a locality\-based, multi\-agency model, you will work collaboratively with partners to identify and deliver appropriate early help and support, and where required, facilitate timely progression to statutory social work services.

You will coordinate support plans and chair review meetings, maintaining a clear focus on outcomes. A key aspect of the role is ensuring that plans are person\-centred and reflect the voice of the child, young person, or adult. The post requires the consistent production of high\-quality reports, alongside robust, evidence\-informed recommendations relating to care, action, and safety planning.

The role may include providing professional supervision, contributing to workforce development, and ensuring adherence to Council policies and procedures, supporting the development of an autonomous, skilled, and compassionate workforce.

Strong partnership working is essential. You will demonstrate the ability to influence, negotiate, and coordinate effective multi\-agency responses, working within established service processes to assess need and deliver timely, proportionate planning that improves outcomes for children, individuals, and families.

  • Key tasks include:

  • Undertaking assessment and practical support/advice to families, individuals and professionals to address wellbeing needs, concerns and emerging risk

  • Working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies to promote wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes

  • Chairing multi agency meetings

  • Promoting the interests of service users and carers in terms of rights, opportunities, culture and diversity.

  • Recording service user information and measuring impact of support.

  • The post involves some lone working, working flexibly.

The Person
  • A qualification in Social Work (Diploma or equivalent) is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

  • You will have one of the following: An accredited post\-qualifying award (e.g. Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Mental Health Officer Accreditation, Practice Teacher Award, etc.) or a commitment to work towards achieving this within 2 years of appointment.

  • You should have considerable experience in a relevant setting.

  • You must have the ability to travel throughout Fife.

  • You will have knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols and experience of joint working to achieve common goals.

  • Knowledge of assessment frameworks.

  • Experience of delivering interventions which demonstrate impact and improve outcomes.

  • Good communication and organisational skills including IT and report writing skills.

  • Partnership working skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a Team as well as independently.

  • As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

  • If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible, so you're registered within the required six months.

  • If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
