Senior Network & Data Center Engineer (Contract)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network \& Data Center Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network infrastructure and data center environments. Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design \& Deployment: Design, deploy, and optimize network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, data center networks (Cisco Nexus vPC/VXLAN), and hybrid cloud integrations with Azure and AWS.


• Multi\-Vendor Network \& Firewall Management: Manage and support Cisco routers (ISR 4000/ASR), switches, firewalls (Cisco ASA failover, Palo Alto, FortiGate), Juniper devices, and SDN solutions to ensure seamless connectivity and security.


• Network Security \& Identity: Implement and maintain security protocols including VPNs (IPsec/SSL), Cisco ISE for identity services, PKI certificate management, IDS/IPS, and network access controls.


• Monitoring \& Diagnostics: Proactively monitor performance using SolarWinds, PRTG, and CA Spectrum to troubleshoot complex WAN/LAN connectivity, packet drops, and DNS resolution failures.


• Routing Protocols \& Core Services: Configure and optimize BGP (iBGP/eBGP), OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, TCP/IP stack, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP/Active Directory authentication.


• Virtualization \& Storage Integration: Lead network installation projects including fiber optics (Ethernet), SFTP/FTP file transfers, and SAN storage setup with VMware vSphere for high availability.

• Enterprise Network \& Firewalls: Proven track record in designing and supporting complex enterprise networks with extensive hands\-on experience on Cisco equipment (routers, Nexus switches, ASA firewalls, Cisco ISE) and next\-gen firewalls (Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate). Juniper experience is a plus.


• Protocols \& Cloud: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS networks. Familiarity with Azure and AWS virtual networking components.


• Data Center \& Virtualization: Hands\-on experience managing data center environments utilizing VMware vSphere or similar virtualization platforms; knowledge of SAN storage solutions essential.


• Automation \& Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash (Unix shell scripting), Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks.


• Certifications \& ITIL: Formal certifications such as Cisco CCNP Enterprise/Data Center/Security or CCIE (or equivalent experience) are highly desirable; experience working within ITIL frameworks is advantageous.
