Senior Credit Risk Manager - Trading/Commodities Robert Walters is partnering with a highly regarded international organisation to appoint a senior Credit Risk Manager into a visible leadership role within its London-based risk function.

This role will suit someone from a commodity trading, energy, mining, international trading or similarly transactional environment.

The role You will lead a team of credit and risk professionals and act as a senior adviser across a broad range of trading and commercial activity.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading, developing and providing technical oversight to a team of Credit and Risk Analysts.


• Assessing counterparty creditworthiness, financial strength, credit limits, payment terms and ongoing exposure.


• Reviewing complex credit applications, transaction-risk assessments and senior-management approval papers.


• Advising commercial teams throughout the lifecycle of transactions, from initial review and structuring through to approval and monitoring.


• Evaluating wider transaction risks, including contract terms, delivery and payment mechanics, country exposure and concentration risk.


• Recommending appropriate credit-risk mitigants, including trade-credit insurance, guarantees, letters of credit, collateral and revised commercial terms.

• Proven credit-risk and financial-analysis experience, including counterparty assessment, limit setting, exposure management and ongoing monitoring.


• Direct experience supporting commercial or trading transactions-ideally within commodities, energy, mining, international trade or a comparable environment.


• Experience using or recommending instruments such as guarantees, letters of credit, trade-credit insurance, collateral or parent-company support.


• Previous people-management experience, including coaching, reviewing analytical work and developing a team.


• The ability to influence and constructively challenge commercial stakeholders and senior management.
