We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our fast\-paced manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of advanced CNC and automated manufacturing equipment, playing a key role in keeping production running safely and efficiently.

You will be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance, diagnosing faults, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Reactive Maintenance \& Fault Diagnosis

  • Apply root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures, using correct maintenance documentation and CMMS records at all times.

  • Respond promptly to plant breakdowns to minimise downtime and production impact.
Planned \& Preventive Maintenance
  • Execute and continuously improve the planned maintenance schedule, ensuring all assets operate at peak performance and within legislative compliance.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records for all activities; close out work orders in a timely manner.

  • Identify and flag ageing or end\-of\-life equipment to the Maintenance Manager with recommendations for replacement or upgrade.

  • Lead the retrofitting and modification of existing machinery to integrate robotic and automated systems into the production environment.

  • Work with project engineers and OEM suppliers (e.g. Fanuc, Staubli) to specify, commission, and validate new automated cells.

  • Lead and contribute to wider capital investment projects, from initial scoping and design through to commissioning and handover.

  • Design or modify site\-specific tooling, jigs, and equipment as required, collaborating with the Maintenance Manager on approval and sign\-off.
Team Leadership \& Development
  • Mentor and coach Maintenance Engineers, supporting their technical development and day\-to\-day performance.

  • Act as the senior point of contact for the Maintenance Department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager, organising workloads and maintaining clear interdepartmental communication.

  • Foster a culture of honesty and transparency — proactively report issues and near\-misses to management so problems can be addressed promptly and prevented from escalating.
Health, Safety \& Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet current health and safety legislation, relevant British Standards, and Stoba UK internal policies.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across all work areas, leaving plant areas clean and safe after every job.

  • Ensure all personnel working in your area — including contractors — comply with Stoba UK's H\&S requirements.
