The salary for this role at SEO starts at £46,000 per annum.

This role will attract a Specialist Allowance (non\-contractual, non\-consolidated and non\-pensionable) based on the candidate’s demonstrated skills, competence and experience at interview. This allowance will be subject to regular review. The role also includes excellent benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Existing Civil Servants

For existing Civil Servants, usual FCDO rules for starting pay on level transfer will apply. The candidate’s current salary will be transferred to FCDO payroll, subject to the FCDO grade maximum. Any amount above the FCDO grade maximum will be retained on a mark time basis and eroded by future salary increases. No existing allowances will be honoured by the FCDO. For candidates applying on promotion, salary will be set at either a 10% increase on existing salary, or the higher grade pay band minimum, whichever is greater.

Job description

It’s a very exciting time for the Rosa Service Organisation (RSO). As a unique organisation within Government, we continue to grow and develop. This is a varied and exciting role for an experienced, intelligent and enthusiastic individual looking to drive forward the design and delivery of secure capabilities that will transform the Rosa Service.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise\-grade infrastructure solutions across on\-premises and cloud environments.

  • Manage and support core Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory (AD), ADFS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

  • Oversee backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to optimize reliability and scalability.

  • Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure automation.

  • Maintain documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures using tools like Confluence.

  • Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure standards and processes.

Person specification

We are looking for someone with:

Essential

  • Strong experience with Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2025\).

  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, ADFS, and Group Policy.

  • Proficiency in backup and recovery solutions

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools .

  • Excellent problem\-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable
  • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate management.

  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere and virtual infrastructure management.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS .

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.

  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for task tracking and documentation.
