We are seeking an experienced and committed Family Residential Team Leader to join a residential family service supporting parents and their children.
This is a senior role working directly under the Registered Manager. The Team Leader will support the Manager with the day\-to\-day running of the service, provide leadership to Family Residential Support Workers and help ensure that children and families receive safe, consistent and high\-quality support.
Applicants must already have experience working within a family residential unit/family assessment setting and must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the Registered Manager and support the effective day\-to\-day running of the residential service.
- Lead shifts and provide clear direction, guidance and support to Family Residential Support Workers.
- Undertake formal staff supervisions in accordance with the service's supervision arrangements.
- Support staff development through reflective supervision, mentoring, feedback and identification of training needs.
- Support the Manager with staff performance, practice standards and maintaining consistency across the team.
- Complete and oversee effective staff handovers.
- Ensure staff complete high\-quality daily recordings, observations, incident reports and other required documentation.
- Review staff records and provide feedback where improvements are required.
- Work directly with parents and children and contribute to the assessment and development of parenting capacity.
- Observe and accurately record parent\-child interactions, identifying strengths, progress, concerns and areas requiring further support.
- Support parents with routines, boundaries, emotional responsiveness, practical parenting skills and meeting their children's individual needs.
- Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding and the welfare of children at all times.
- Recognise, respond to and appropriately escalate safeguarding and child protection concerns.
- Support the implementation and review of risk assessments, support plans and safeguarding strategies.
- Provide leadership during incidents and ensure appropriate action, recording, reporting and management notification.
- Contribute to reports, reviews and professional meetings regarding families where required.
- Liaise professionally with Social Workers and other professionals involved with children and families.
- Support the induction, probation and ongoing development of Family Residential Support Workers.
- Promote professional boundaries and ensure staff maintain appropriate relationships with families.
- Support the Manager with audits, quality assurance and monitoring of practice.
- Deputise and provide appropriate operational oversight in the Manager's absence when required.
- Ensure practice is child\-centred, trauma\-informed and focused on achieving positive and sustainable outcomes for families.
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People, Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, Family Support or another relevant qualification.
- Have previous experience working within a family residential unit, residential family assessment centre or equivalent specialist family residential setting.
- Have experience working directly with parents and children where there are complex needs and safeguarding concerns.
- Have experience at Senior Support Worker, Senior Family Support Worker or Team Leader level, or demonstrate substantial experience with leadership responsibilities within a family residential setting.
- Have a strong working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- Understand the role of Children's Social Care and multi\-agency working with families.
- Have experience providing guidance and oversight to other members of staff.
- Be able to undertake professional staff supervision and reflective practice sessions.
- Have excellent written skills and be able to review and quality assure staff recordings.
- Be confident managing incidents, safeguarding concerns and challenging situations.
- Have strong organisational and communication skills.
- Be able to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and shifts where required.
- Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS appropriate for working with children and families.
You will be an experienced family residential practitioner who is ready to take responsibility for leading staff while continuing to work directly with children and families.
You will be confident undertaking staff supervisions, challenging poor practice appropriately, supporting staff development and working closely with the Registered Manager to maintain high standards across the service.
Most importantly, you will understand the complexities of residential family work and be able to balance supportive and non\-judgemental practice with professional curiosity, robust safeguarding and a clear focus on the welfare of children.
Pay: £15\.00 per hour
