Senior Estimator – Commercial Roofing & Cladding

We are looking for an experienced commercial roofing and cladding estimator to take ownership of enquiries, prepare commercially sound quotations and manage client relationships from initial discussion through to project completion.

This is a home\-based position with no routine office attendance and only occasional site visits where required. It would suit an established estimator with strong technical knowledge who can work independently, make informed decisions and take responsibility without day\-to\-day supervision.

The role combines hands\-on estimating with wider commercial responsibility. You will help secure the right projects, establish realistic budgets and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that the work you price can be delivered profitably.

Your responsibilities

• Manage enquiries and tenders: Review drawings, specifications and client requirements; identify scope gaps and technical risks; and prepare accurate estimates covering materials, labour, access and associated costs.


• Manage client relationships: Discuss requirements, explain proposed solutions, present quotations, follow up opportunities and negotiate commercially sensible agreements.


• Establish and control budgets: Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations, establish buying budgets and ensure that orders and subcontract packages reflect the agreed scope.


• Coordinate commercial delivery: Work with the delivery team, suppliers and subcontractors to plan procurement, resolve queries and keep projects aligned with the quotation, budget and programme.


• Protect project profitability: Identify and price variations, monitor costs, support payment applications and final accounts, and maintain accurate records of commitments and forecast margins.

You must have at least five years’ experience working in an equivalent employed estimating role for commercial roofing companies, including direct experience of both commercial roofing and cladding.

Your previous roles must have included the estimating, client liaison, budgeting and commercial responsibilities described above. General construction estimating or residential roofing experience alone will not meet this requirement.

You must be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of roofing and cladding systems, installation requirements, labour allowances, procurement and the risks that affect project profitability.

Relevant systems may include metal roofing, composite panels, built\-up roofing and cladding, single\-ply membranes, liquid waterproofing and refurbishment works. You do not need to be an expert in every system, but substantial, directly relevant estimating experience is essential.

You must be confident dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, organised in your approach and capable of managing your workload effectively from home.

Employment references will be required to verify your relevant experience and previous responsibilities.

Company software and systems

You will be required to use the estimating software, take\-off tools and business systems provided by the company.

External software, personal software subscriptions and alternative platforms are not permitted for company work. Applicants must be willing to work within the company’s systems and processes.
