Senior Engineer – Romix

Job Purpose:

To lead the Romix Site Engineering function in supporting the site production in achieving their KPI’s and compliance with all current Health and Safety and Environmental legislation

ROLE % Allocated to Role Role Manager

Role Responsibilities

Recruitment and induction and ongoing leadership of the site maintenance team, ensuring all necessary training and development needs are identified and delivered whilst ensuring equipment, and operational processes in relation to applicable regulations are in place and applied.

Monitor and develop, performance of the Romix Engineering Team, report on KPIs and drive continuous improvement.

Take responsibility for the call out rota and holiday planning for the Engineering Team

Attending breakdowns as necessary and assisting the engineering team on the shop floor.

Responsible for the site engineering budget, ensuring spend is within budget, all variances to be discussed or report to National Maintenance Manager

Manage ordering of parts and services related to the Engineering Function

To take ownership of the Maintenance plan and adapt and change as becomes necessary. Completing outstanding works on the sites maintenance system

Ensure computerised maintenance package is fully utilised for a suitable PPM schedule and OEM recommendations

Ensure significant breakdowns are investigated to root cause and that effective action to prevent recurrence is implemented

Support site projects and in conjunction with the designated Project Manager, ensure all technical aspects are catered for.

Delivering best practice and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and implementing appropriate solutions.

To ensure that all statutory compliance inspections and associated documents are completed in full and filed in the correct manner, any remedial actions are acted upon and completed in a timely manner.

Ensure the management of all Health, Safety, Environmental \& Risk factors, in order to deliver full compliance with Company Policies \& Procedures, as well as compliance to all appropriate legislation

Role Responsibilities

Supervise and review Contractors including their Health and Safety documentation, Risk Assessments and Safe System of Works.

Adhere to Health \& Safety requirements, ensures all work is carried out in a safe manner and conduct risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work where required

Responsible for maintaining and procuring the site’s stock holding of spare parts at an adequate and cost effective level that prevents any breakdown having a “stock out” situation.

To ensure that established standards of food quality \& food safety are met

Perform the task of Site Electrical Duty Holder/Deputy

Deliverable Outcomes

Strong leadership and behaviours in relation to H\&S

PPM’s completed in timeframe

Daily, Weekly and Monthly visibility of departmental performance

Order correct parts in a timely manner

Equipment reliability delivering the Production demand plan

Compliance with Annual Audit and Legal Compliance.

100% compliance on period permit review and annual audit

100% of task to be entered onto maintenance system and closed off

Maintain Double A BRC Rating

All breakdowns to be documented and Root cause investigations recorded.

The maintenance budget, managed in line with finance controls and budget levels

Behavioural observations and SOR’s to be completed. Ensure all works are covered by Risk Assessments and SSOW and to be reviewed regularly.

Ensure site compliance in respect to Electrical Safety

SHER KPI’s to be achieved and maintained

Engineering KPI’s targets to be achieved and maintained

Effective Continuous Improvement initiatives implemented

Delivery of succession plan within the maintenance team

Strong Leadership, management, and development of the maintenance team

Education \& Qualifications

Completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship

Essential

ONC/HNC OR equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

Recognised Management/Leadership qualification

Experience

A minimum of five years working experience, preferably in the food, chemical or baking industry

Desirable

Experience of leading and developing a team of engineers

Desirable

Food manufacturing experience with a good understanding of hygienic equipment
