About the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is the UK’s independent body overseeing elections and regulating political finance. Everything we do is about ensuring trust, participation, and integrity in the democratic process.

As we enter a bold new chapter under our five\-year Corporate Plan, we are increasing our workforce and transforming how we plan and deliver core services. This post plays a central role in that journey.

Job description

About the role

This is a key role within our Digital Communications team, with a particular focus on strengthening and growing our Welsh\-language and Wales\-focused social media presence.

You will own the creation, scheduling, and evaluation of high\-quality digital content and act as a community manager across our social channels. Working closely with colleagues in Wales and across the wider Communications and External Affairs directorate, you will ensure our Welsh\-language content is engaging, accessible, compliant with Welsh Language Standards, and tailored, not simply translated, for Welsh audiences.

On a day\-to\-day basis, you will:

  • Create engaging Welsh\-language and bilingual content across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and X, including video, audio and graphics

  • Manage and grow Welsh\-language and Wales\-focused social media channels, building reach, trust and understanding of voting and democracy

  • Use insight, data and social listening tools to evaluate performance and continuously improve content and channel effectiveness

  • Act as a subject matter expert on Welsh\-language digital engagement within the Commission, contributing to wider campaigns and projects

  • Monitor channels to identify opportunities, emerging issues and potential risks, escalating where appropriate

  • Respond to public queries and complaints via social media in line with Commission policies
This role offers the opportunity to have real impact on how people in Wales access trusted information about elections and democratic participation, while developing your strategic digital skills in a fast\-paced public sector environment.

*Please note: the full job description is also available in both English and Welsh. Applications are welcome in English or Welsh.*
