A Senior Care Assistant (also called a Senior Care Worker or Senior Carer) provides personal care to elderly or vulnerable people while also supervising care staff and ensuring high standards of care.

Typical job responsibilities:

• Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.


• Administer or assist with medication (where trained and authorised).


• Support residents with meals, hydration, and daily activities.


• Monitor residents' health and report any changes to nurses or managers.


• Lead and supervise Care Assistants during shifts.


• Maintain accurate care records and complete reports.


• Communicate with residents' families and healthcare professionals.


• Ensure health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures are followed.


• Provide emotional support and encourage residents' independence.
