Night Care Assistant

A Night Care Assistant provides care and support to residents or clients during overnight shifts in care homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or private homes.

Typical job duties include:

• Assisting with personal care such as washing, dressing, toileting, and continence care.


• Helping residents move safely and repositioning those with limited mobility.


• Carrying out regular night\-time welfare checks.


• Responding to call bells and emergencies promptly.


• Supporting residents with medication (if trained and authorized).


• Providing companionship and reassurance to residents who are awake or distressed.


• Recording care provided and reporting any health concerns to senior staff.


• Keeping the environment clean, safe, and secure throughout the night.
