Senior Care Assistant - Days and/or Nights

Location: Ascot House, Oswald Road, Scunthorpe
Role: Senior Care Assistant
Hours: 30 hours a week
Shifts: 7am to 2\.30pm, 2\.30pm to 10pm, and nights 10pm to 7am. We are happy to take someone for days, for nights, or for a mix of both, so tell us which you are after.
Ascot House is an award\-winning residential home in Scunthorpe. As the senior on shift you lead the team, look after the medication round, and are the person the care assistants come to while the shift is running.
What the role involves
- Leading the team on shift and keeping it running as it should
- Administering medication
- Responding to falls, illness and residents who are unsettled, and deciding what needs doing
- Accurate records and a proper handover to the shift coming on
- Bringing on newer care assistants and helping them find their feet
What we are looking for
- At least two years' experience as a care assistant in a residential or dementia care setting. You might already be a senior, or a carer with two solid years behind you who is ready to step up. We will support you either way.
- Confidence administering medication
- The judgement to run a shift and deal with what comes up, and to know the difference between a decision you make and one that genuinely needs escalating
- Careful record keeping. The next shift works from what you write.
- A calm manner with residents who are confused or distressed
