Clearing \& Payments department supports the bank in a back office capacity, supporting the bank’s operational processing for various banking products, working with the retail branches and Front office teams to support London Branch and Subsidiary customers. As a Senior Assistant – Payment and Data Solutions, you will support the Business Solutions Management (BSM) team in delivering business solutions, process improvement, automation and project governance across the department. You will play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and supporting strategic initiatives. This is a full time permanent position.

Key responsibilities

  • Extract, validate and analyse data from internal systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency and generate business insights to support operational and strategic decision\-making

  • Develop and maintain management reports, dashboards and Excel\-based reporting tools, including advanced formulas, VBA macros and automated reporting solutions

  • Support departmental automation initiatives, including monitoring Robotic Process Automation (RPA) processes, investigating exceptions and performing routine maintenance

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation and emerging technologies

  • Maintain departmental documentation, governance records, control evidence and internal collaboration platforms to support regulatory compliance, knowledge sharing and operational excellence

  • Assess business impacts and analyse business requirements arising from system enhancements, regulatory changes and operational initiatives, identifying practical technology\-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency and business processes

  • Coordinate end\-to\-end solution delivery with Technology, Operations, Risk and external stakeholders, including requirements gathering, development, testing, implementation and post\-implementation support

  • Support project governance through the maintenance of project documentation, trackers, action logs and management reporting

  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with Bank policies, regulatory requirements, service level agreements and internal control standards
Requirements
  • Degree educated in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or other relevant subjects

  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. BCS, PRINCE2, Agile, Lean Six Sigma or equivalent) is a plus

  • Commercial experience in data analysis, reporting and management information (MI) production

  • Experience supporting business process improvement, automation or digital transformation initiatives would be advantageous

  • Experience in payments within Financial Services or banking operations would be a plus

  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate or other Microsoft Power Platform technologies

  • Knowledge of SWIFT payment message standards (including ISO 20022\) or payment operations

  • Basic programming or scripting capability (e.g. Python, VBA, PowerShell or similar) would be beneficial

  • Familiarity with change management or project delivery methodologies (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2\)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred

  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query and VBA/Macros

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Highly organised and attention to detail

  • Flexible and responsive to changing business priorities

  • Interest in emerging technologies, AI and automation, with a willingness to learn and apply new technologies to improve business processes
