SEND Teaching Assistant
Responsible for supervising the activities of pupils during the school teaching periods and the midday sessional break within the school, including both indoor and outdoor areas, ensuring a safe environment is maintained at all times\`.
To assist the Headteacher and teachers in the development and implementation of a programme of work and in the provision of a stable, caring, and supportive learning environment, which enables pupils to achieve their full learning potential and facilitates their personal, social, and moral development.
Typically, there will be some requirement to work with pupils, either individually or in groups, who have some special educational needs such as, learning difficulties, high learning abilities or behavioural challenges.
This post will, for the majority of the time, be working under the supervision of a class teacher.
Duties
Support to the pupil(s):
- Develop, maintain, and apply knowledge and understanding of pupils’ general and specific
- Supporting and directing literacy and numeracy tasks, clarifying, and explaining instructions
- Focus support in areas needing improvement, both academically and socially.
- Support pupils to use ICT and other equipment to enhance learning

Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs such as autism or disabilities
- Knowledge of teaching methods suitable for young learners and children with additional needs
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
- Compassionate attitude with patience and adaptability in challenging situations
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education or childcare are advantageous but not essential
