Teaching Assistant (Year 6 SEN Support)

Join a welcoming primary school as a Teaching Assistant, providing dedicated morning support for a Year 6 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role is ideal for someone who is nurturing, patient, and experienced in supporting children with additional needs.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a Year 6 pupil with autism, focusing on their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in lessons.

  • Implement strategies to promote the pupil's independence and positive behaviour.

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SEN team, and other teaching staff to enhance the pupil's learning experience.

  • Help create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of all pupils.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or additional needs is essential.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Demonstrates a calm, patient, and supportive approach to student interaction.

  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of the child and seamlessly integrate into the school environment.
