SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport (NP20)
Salary: 89.38/ day
Contract: Full-time
We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant for a well-established and supportive specialist SEN school in Newport.
About the School Our SEN provision supports pupils with a range of additional learning needs (ALN), including autism, social, emotional and behavioural needs, and complex learning difficulties.
The school provides a structured and inclusive environment where pupils are supported both academically and personally. Staff work closely together to deliver consistent, individualised support.
The Role You will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning and develop key life skills. You will work alongside teaching staff and other professionals to ensure each pupil receives the support they need.
Key Responsibilities • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs
- Assist the teacher with planning and delivering differentiated lessons
- Provide 1:1 support where required
- Manage behaviour in a calm and consistent way
- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Support with personal care where necessary
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- A proactive and supportive approach
- Understanding of safeguarding principles
- Willingness to apply for a DBS and register with the EWC (support provided)
- Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant
- Training and development opportunities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
