About the Role
Kingsley Academy is an Independent Special Educational Needs (SEND) School supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students in accessing education and developing both academically and personally within a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom to access the National Curriculum, with a focus on English, Maths, and Science.
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities that meet individual student needs.
- Provide one\-to\-one and small group support for students with SEND, including SEMH needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and mental health development.
- Help manage behaviour using positive, de\-escalation, and restorative approaches.
- Encourage student engagement, independence, and confidence in learning.
- Assist with monitoring and recording student progress and behaviour.
- Support the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Supervise students during break times, transitions, and off\-site activities where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEND or SEMH needs.
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Relevant qualification in childcare, education, or support work (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant).
- Experience working in a SEND or alternative provision setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and/or de\-escalation techniques.
- Understanding of EHCPs and supporting students with additional needs (e.g. ADHD, autism, anxiety).
- Training in areas such as Team Teach, safeguarding, or mental health support.
