Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to support children with diverse learning needs and challenging behaviors within an educational setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pupils, and families to foster an inclusive environment that promotes learning, development, and well\-being. This role offers an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on children's lives, particularly those with autism and other disabilities. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for children with special needs, including autism and disabilities.
- Support children’s learning activities both in the classroom and during specialised sessions such as toddler care.
- Provide one\-to\-one assistance to pupils requiring additional support, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Facilitate communication between children and staff, employing effective communication skills to promote understanding.
- Help create a nurturing environment that encourages social interaction, independence, and confidence among pupils.
- Support behavioural management strategies under the guidance of teaching staff to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
- Assist with personal care routines when necessary, ensuring dignity and respect for each child.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and parents, to develop individualised support plans.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to work effectively with children across different age groups, including toddlers.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with children, colleagues, and families.
- Organised and patient approach to supporting children’s developmental progress.
- Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs.
