Academics Rochester is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Chatham. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to two pupils in Lower Key Stage 2 with additional learning needs.
The pupils require tailored support for a range of needs, including:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Non-verbal communication needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent and nurturing support to two pupils with SEN.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Implement strategies to support attention, engagement and behaviour.
- Use visual aids, communication tools and structured routines to support non-verbal communication.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
- Promote inclusion and encourage independence where appropriate.
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism and ADHD.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Experience within a primary school setting is desirable but not essential.
