Self Employed Contractor - Plumber / Heating Engineer.

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Self\-Employed Contractor specialising as a Plumber / Heating Engineer to join our team. The role is to work flexibly alongside the proprietor to help take on extra residential boiler installation, servicing and other general plumbing work we are taking on in the Stockport \& South Manchester Area.

We welcome applicants who wish to work flexible hours around other contracts.

In this role, you will deliver high\-quality plumbing and heating services across various residential projects. Your expertise will ensure efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and heating systems, contributing to safe, reliable, and energy\-efficient environments.

This position offers flexibility and independence, empowering you to manage your workload while maintaining professional standards.

Main Work Areas.

• Boiler installation


• Bathroom installation / first fixes


• Gas Safety Certificates


• Plumbing \& Heating Emergencies

Duties

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances in residential and commercial settings


• Fit and service heating systems such as boilers and radiators with precision and care


• Conduct system inspections to identify issues and recommend effective solutions


• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques to complete tasks efficiently


• Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely during installation or repair projects


• Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot complex plumbing and heating problems accurately


• Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and system specifications for each project


• Maintain excellent customer relationships and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction at all times.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in plumbing, heating engineering, or related trades with a strong mechanical aptitude


• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques


• Knowledge of plumbing codes, safety standards, and best practices in the industry


• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during installation or repairs


• Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and system diagnostics


• Carpentry skills are a plus for custom fittings or structural adjustments


• Valid driver’s license with commercial driving experience preferred for travel between sites
