School IT Manager (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary

The Roche School, is looking to employ an enthusiastic and practical IT Manager for this popular independent primary school in Wandsworth. This is a full time position 8\.30am\-5pm but benefits from extensive school holidays included. It is initially offered as a fixed term contract covering a maternity leave for one year from 1st November 2026 to 31st October 2027

The IT Manager will be required to oversee all IT in the school. This will include technical support and infrastructure, web filtering and monitoring, IT assets and licencing and perform general troubleshooting of issues relating to hardware and software. In certain cases it will also be appropriate to advise and liaise with the current IT administrator who is off\-site on technical requirements for the school.

The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of IT infrastructure, multiple IT platforms, Office based systems and a ‘can\-do’ approach to tackling computing issues and administrative tasks.

Job Specification

• Good understanding of standard hardware including: Desktops, laptops, printers, SmartBoards, projectors, routers.


• Good understanding of and ability to learn about standard software including: The Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 10, 11 , Mac and iOS operating systems, and Capita SIMS Management Information Systems (preferable), various internet browsers, various touch\-typing and learning\-support programs and others as they become appropriate.


• Able to maintain and operate IT infrastructure and networking across three school sites.


• Perform IT related administrative and structural tasks as required by the Administration and Leadership team.

Term time only 8\.30am\-5pm

The IT manager will be required to oversee the structure and software of all IT in the school and perform general troubleshooting of issues relating to hardware and software, repair where possible and replace if necessary. In certain cases it will also be appropriate to advise and liaise with the current IT administrator who is off\-site.

General network maintenance is a very important part of the role as all computers must be able to access the internet and intranet at all times. Backing\-up the server in order to ensure that there is always ample storage available to the staff is also a high priority.

Some regular requirements include, but are not limited to: Installing computers, monitors and printers, networking printers, photocopiers and scanners, installing and updating software, calibrating Smartboards and projectors and assisting members of staff with more specific IT issues.

It will always remain beneficial to show teachers how to perform the more common and simple of these fixes in order to be able to run more efficiently. There is also the possibility of running small staff\-training sessions where appropriate.

It is a small, lively and friendly school and a successful candidate will have to show that they can work well in this environment, especially around the children.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Certified computer training necessary.

Extensive experience of working with computers and software systems necessary.

A degree in computing would be preferable.
