Location: Leyton, East London
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm, with a 1\-hour lunch break (37\.5 hours per week)

Overview
Engineering Techniques Ltd is seeking a Scaffold / Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our engineering team.
The successful candidate will work on a varied range of scaffold and temporary works projects, from conventional access scaffolds through to more complex bespoke structures.
The role will involve developing safe, practical and buildable engineering solutions, carrying out structural calculations and analysis, preparing and reviewing drawings, and working closely with clients and site teams.
We are looking for someone with a civil or structural engineering background. Previous scaffold or temporary works design experience would be advantageous, although candidates with strong engineering fundamentals and a willingness to develop within this specialist field will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Design scaffold and temporary works systems in accordance with relevant standards and guidance
- Carry out structural calculations and engineering analysis
- Develop design solutions for independent, bridged and cantilevered scaffolds, temporary roofs, protection gantries and fans, loading bays, hoist run\-offs and other temporary works
- Produce and review design drawings using AutoCAD
- Prepare calculation packages and supporting design documentation
- Liaise with clients, scaffold contractors and site teams to establish design requirements
- Undertake site visits and surveys where required
- Assist with developing practical solutions to site\-specific engineering challenges
- Manage multiple design projects and work to agreed deadlines
- Respond to design changes and site requirements throughout a project
- Ensure designs are safe, practical, buildable and compliant with relevant standards
- Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Good understanding of structural engineering principles, including load paths, stability and restraint
- Ability to undertake structural calculations and engineering analysis
- AutoCAD experience
- Experience with Mathcad or similar engineering calculation software would be advantageous
- Previous scaffold or temporary works design experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge of the construction or scaffolding industry would be beneficial
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organised, detail\-oriented and able to manage multiple projects
- Willingness to learn and develop within a specialist temporary works design environment
