SC Cleared Maritime Combat Systems Engineer – Electronic Warfare Contract

We are seeking an experienced SC\-Cleared Maritime Combat Systems Engineer with Electronic Warfare expertise for an anticipated long\-term UK defence engineering assignment.
This is a senior systems\-engineering role focused on the integration and installation of Electronic Warfare capability across maritime platforms and supporting shore environments. The successful candidate will bring strong technical judgement, experience of complex systems integration and the ability to work confidently with multiple technical and operational stakeholders.

Contract details
- Contract: Full\-time, 5 days per week
- IR35 status: Inside IR35
- Anticipated start: Late September 2026
- Anticipated end: December 2027, with potential for extension subject to programme requirements and contract award.
- Location: Hybrid—remote working, with attendance at Abbey Wood, Bristol one day per fortnight.
- Travel: Occasional travel to other UK defence sites and Gibraltar may be required. Travel and subsistence arrangements for these visits will be confirmed at appointment.
- Rate: £600 per day
- Termination: The engagement is subject to a 30\-day termination provision.
- Lead systems\-integration and installation activities for maritime Electronic Warfare capability.
- Work with suppliers, platform authorities, combat\-system teams and other stakeholders to resolve technical interfaces and integration issues.
- Support integration activity at shore\-based facilities.
- Manage interface\-control documentation, requirements changes, concessions and engineering\-acceptance activities.
- Review relevant commercial hardware specifications for installation and integration.
- Identify, manage and report technical risks, dependencies and interdependencies across multiple programmes.
- Support engineering governance and design\-assurance activity.
- Challenge technical assumptions and help develop practical solutions to complex engineering issues.
- Active, current UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
- Sole UK nationality, due to security restrictions.
- Recent, demonstrable systems\-engineering experience in Electronic Warfare, radar, weapons systems, combat systems, software integration, communications systems or countermeasures.
- Experience integrating complex systems and managing multiple technical interfaces.
- Strong technical problem\-solving, stakeholder\-management and risk\-management skills.
- Ability to travel to UK customer sites when required.
- Royal Navy or wider maritime\-defence experience.
- Experience of Royal Navy ships, Maritime Combat Systems Networks and complex ship\-integration activity.
- Trial planning, equipment acceptance or shore\-site integration experience.
- Knowledge of Ships Alterations and Additions, CIAP processes or Platform Trial Preparation.
- Experience contributing to a technical Design Authority and promoting open\-systems standards.
- Experience coordinating engineers, suppliers or contractors within complex technical activity.
- Applicants must already hold active SC clearance and meet the sole\-UK\-nationality requirement.
