Sales Support & Operations Coordinator
ABOUT US
We supply roofing, cladding, and structural steel materials to builders, contractors, and developers across the UK. We're a small, fast\-moving team based in Melksham — and we're growing quickly. This role sits at the centre of everything we do.
THE ROLE
You are the first point of contact and the operational hub. Enquiries come in, you log them, route them, follow them through, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You work across our ERP system, CRM, document management, and internal job tracking — keeping all of them in sync at every stage from enquiry to payment.
You handle customer calls and emails directly, answering what you can and escalating what you can't — with good judgement about which is which. You coordinate daily with the warehouse on order and production status. You send quotes out once the quoting team has priced them. You keep the operation moving.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- First point of contact — phone, email, WhatsApp — handling customer enquiries professionally and confidently
- Log and track every job through multiple systems in parallel — accuracy and consistency are non\-negotiable
- Raise orders and invoices in our ERP system; maintain accurate customer and job records
- Manage the quoting pipeline — log enquiries, liaise with the quoting team, send approved quotes out promptly
- Daily coordination with the warehouse manager on order, production, and delivery status
- Keep customers informed proactively — no one should have to chase us for an update
- Genuinely strong on computers — fast, accurate, and comfortable across multiple systems at once. This is not a role where basic computer skills are enough. You need to be the kind of person who picks up new software quickly and finds systems intuitive, not frustrating.
- Organised under pressure — three things land at once; you prioritise, work through them, and finish each one cleanly.
- Confident on the phone — clear and direct with customers. If you don't know something, you say "I'll find out and come back to you" — not "I'm not sure." Customers need answers, not uncertainty.
- Process\-disciplined — multi\-step admin processes must be completed fully, every time. Partial completion creates problems downstream.
- Prior ERP experience is a strong advantage — Odoo, SAP, Sage, or similar. Experience with multiple systems is beneficial.
- Background in construction, trade, or materials supply is a plus — not essential.
SALARY — CLEAR, NOT VAGUE
Probation salary: £28,500\. On confirmation, salary is set against three defined performance bands:
- £30,000 — meets the role requirements consistently
- £32,500 — exceeds baseline; operates with real ownership and proactivity
- £35,000 — exceptional; raises the capability of the whole operation
*Career opportunity: For the right person, this is more than a coordinator role. We are a growing business with expanding operations, new product lines, and increasing sales volume.
