About the Role
As Sales Office Team Leader, you will lead by example and help create a positive, collaborative and motivated sales environment. You will support the Sales Manager in delivering the hotel’s commercial strategy while keeping the team focused on proactive selling, excellent client service, effective follow\-up and strong conversion.
Working across corporate, leisure, group, meetings, conferences and events business, you will help develop client relationships, identify new opportunities and ensure that every enquiry receives a warm, professional and personalised response. This role combines hands\-on selling with day\-to\-day team leadership. You will need the confidence to generate business yourself while also coaching, encouraging and supporting colleagues to achieve their goals.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, motivating and supporting the Sales Office team to achieve revenue, activity and conversion targets.
- Supporting the Sales Manager with the delivery of sales plans, commercial priorities, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Creating a positive and collaborative team culture where colleagues feel comfortable sharing ideas, learning and celebrating success.
- Leading by example and demonstrating enthusiasm, professionalism, accountability and a proactive approach to sales.
- Setting clear daily and weekly priorities and ensuring that enquiries, proposals and follow\-up activity are handled promptly.
- Coaching team members to develop their confidence, product knowledge, client\-service skills and sales ability.
- Recognising and celebrating success while helping the team learn from lost or declined business.
- Generating new business across the corporate, leisure, group, meetings and events markets.
- Managing and developing key accounts through regular communication, client meetings, site visits and relationship\-building.
- Conducting hotel show\-rounds and presenting the hotel’s facilities with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Monitoring the sales pipeline and helping the team convert more enquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Reviewing lost and declined business to identify learning points and opportunities to improve conversion.
- Creating professional proposals and ensuring clients receive accurate, timely and personalised communication.
- Identifying opportunities to upsell bedrooms, meeting packages, events, food and beverage services and extended stays.
- Representing the hotel at networking events, trade shows, sales missions and local business meetings.
- Monitoring local market trends, competitor activity and changing levels of demand.
- Working closely with the Sales Manager, Revenue and Marketing teams to support pricing strategies, promotional offers and targeted campaigns.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales activity reports, forecasts and key performance indicators.
- Supporting the Sales Manager with budget planning, forecasting and performance monitoring.
- Working collaboratively with Revenue, Reservations, Reception, Food and Beverage, Meetings and Events, and the wider operational team.
- Ensuring client requirements are accurately communicated so that the experience delivered matches the promises made during the sales process.
- Following up after events and stays to gather feedback, strengthen relationships and identify future opportunities.
- Acting as a Holiday Inn and IHG brand ambassador in every interaction.
We are looking for someone who combines commercial focus with warmth, confidence and positive energy. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in hotel sales, hospitality, meetings and events, account management or a related commercial role.
- Experience of leading, coaching, supervising or motivating colleagues.
- A proactive approach to generating leads, following up opportunities and converting business.
- Strong communication, relationship\-building, presentation and negotiation skills.
- The confidence to engage clients face\-to\-face, over the telephone and through written proposals.
- A positive, supportive and collaborative leadership style.
- The ability to motivate others while remaining hands\-on and accountable for your own sales activity.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy sales environment.
- Experience using CRM, hotel reservation or sales systems.
- Confidence interpreting sales reports, forecasts, conversion data and performance indicators.
- The ability to use initiative and identify new commercial opportunities.
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend events according to business needs.
