You will be the driving force behind our sales team; setting the standard, holding the bar high, and ensuring we hit our targets week in, week out. This is a hands\-on leadership role in a startup environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage the sales team day to day — You will be directly responsible for the performance, development, and wellbeing of every member of your sales team. That means running daily and weekly check\-ins, identifying where individuals need support, and ensuring the whole team is aligned, motivated, and clear on what is expected of them.
Set, track, and drive KPI performance — You will own the numbers. You will set meaningful KPI targets in line with our organisational goals, monitor performance consistently, and take swift, decisive action when results are not where they need to be. A history of hitting targets is non\-negotiable for this role.
Coach, develop, and upskill your team — Great sales managers make great salespeople. You will be expected to provide regular one\-to\-one coaching, run team training sessions, and actively invest in the professional development of every person on your team. Whether someone is underperforming or ready for the next level, your job is to meet them where they are and drive them forward.
Build and implement sales strategy — Working closely with senior leadership, you will help design and execute a sales strategy that supports our fundraising goals. This includes identifying new opportunities, refining our pitch and approach, and ensuring the team has the tools, scripts, and support they need to succeed.
Foster a high\-performance team culture — Culture starts with leadership. You will be responsible for creating an environment where accountability, ambition, and teamwork are the norm. In a startup, the culture you build now will define the organisation for years to come we take that seriously, and so should you.
Report directly to senior leadership — You will provide regular, clear, and honest reporting on pipeline health, individual and team performance, revenue forecasting, and any risks or opportunities on the horizon. We expect our sales manager to be as comfortable with data and reporting as they are on the floor with their team.
Recruit and onboard new sales staff as required — As we grow, you may be involved in identifying, interviewing, and onboarding new members of the sales team. Your experience and instinct for spotting talent will be a key asset to us.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Proven sales management experience — You will have direct, hands\-on experience managing a sales team. We are open to candidates from any sales background — whether that is B2B, B2C, telesales, field sales, retail, or any other environment. Driven performance, and delivered results.
A track record of hitting and exceeding KPIs — We will want to see evidence of this. Come prepared to talk specifics — the targets you were set, the results you achieved, and how you got there. Numbers matter in this role, and we will be looking for someone who is genuinely comfortable owning them.
Strong, confident leadership — You know how to get the best out of people. You lead by example, you hold your team to a high standard, and you do it in a way that earns respect rather than simply demanding it. You can have difficult conversations when needed, celebrate success genuinely, and keep morale high even under pressure.
Startup mindset — This is not a corporate environment with layers of process and support. Things move quickly here, priorities can shift, and we expect everyone — including our sales manager — to be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with a degree of ambiguity. If you have thrived in a startup or high\-growth environment before, that is a strong advantage.
Excellent communication skills — Whether you are presenting to leadership, coaching a junior team member, or running a team meeting, you communicate clearly, confidently, and with purpose. You listen as well as you speak, and you know how to tailor your message to your audience.
Strong organisational and planning skills — You will be juggling team management, reporting, strategy, and your own workload. We need someone who is structured, disciplined, and able to prioritise effectively without dropping the ball.
Two professional references — Given the seniority of this role, references are a mandatory part of the application process. Both references should be from previous employers or direct managers who can speak to your performance, leadership, and character.
