Sales Assistant Job Description
Starting off as a part time role, leading to full time
Position: Sales Assistant
Hours: Variable shift pattern (including early morning and late evening shifts)
Days: Monday to Saturday
Responsibilities:
Assist with opening and closing the shop as required.
Manage morning newspaper deliveries (for early shifts starting at 5 AM).
Operate the tills and handle customer transactions efficiently.
Restock shelves throughout the day to ensure product availability.
Maintain cleanliness of the shop, stockrooms, and shop floor.
Assist with administrative tasks, including newspaper and magazine paperwork, processing returns, and maintaining customer accounts.
Provide excellent customer service, assisting with inquiries and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Adapt to changing shop requirements and support the manager as needed.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a retail or customer service role.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Excellent time management to ensure efficiency during shifts.
Proficient in phone etiquette and customer service principles.
Basic knowledge of administrative tasks such as record\-keeping and data entry.
Flexible and proactive attitude, able to work in a fast\-paced environment.
