We are looking for a Test Engineer to manage and develop our rolling stock testing capability, ensuring train components are reliable, safe and fit for service.

This is a hands\-on engineering role combining testing, fault investigation, reliability improvement and technical development, supporting both day\-to\-day operations and longer\-term fleet performance.

You will play a key role in reducing unnecessary component repairs, improving system reliability, and enhancing in\-house technical capability.

What You’ll Do
------------------

  • Develop and implement test processes and equipment to support fleet reliability

  • Manage and operate rolling stock test equipment and facilities

  • Diagnose faults and verify component performance to reduce unnecessary external repairs

  • Support in\-house repair capability development for train components

  • Work with Production, Stores and Engineering teams to ensure parts are fit for service

  • Analyse failure and reliability data to identify improvement opportunities

  • Support technical investigations with suppliers, including site visits where required

  • Contribute to technical documentation, including maintenance and test instructions

  • Support engineering projects and technical change (CAP process)

  • Assist in improving fleet performance and system reliability
What You’ll Need
--------------------

Essential


  • Degree or higher qualification in Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, testing and fault finding

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

  • Good IT skills (MS Office)

  • Experience working in an engineering, maintenance or technical environment

Desirable


  • Working towards or ability to achieve IEng or CEng accreditation

  • Experience with rolling stock, rail or similar complex systems

  • Knowledge of diagnostic or engineering software tools
