Risk & Compliance Manager (FCA)

You will be joining a small group of dedicated compliance and risk professionals who work closely and collaboratively in providing guidance, advice, support and monitoring. You will be part of an enthusiastic team that provides assurance to management on its regulated activities, working on exciting projects that helps us to deliver exceptional partnership and good customer outcomes.
Personal skills and experience
3\+ years’ experience in regulatory role, Consumer Credit and/or Insurance background would be advantageous
Demonstrable experience of working within FCA rules and guidance
Understanding of the FCA Consumer Duty and implementation activities for regulated firms
Experience of working with FCA financial promotion rules and guidance
Previous oversight of or an understanding of Principal Firms and Appointed Representatives (ARs) would be advantageous
Understanding of Data Protection principles would be beneficial
Providing simple advisory support and guidance to the wider team and ARs directly
Demonstrable experience of working with all Microsoft tools, especially Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organisational and analytical skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively
Great attention to detail
Policy, procedures and report writing skills
The ability to gather, analyse and understand data, providing summaries and reports to management
Great interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders of all levels, internal and external
Self\-motivated with ability to work remotely with occasional visits to our Head Office in Gloucester
Tasks:
Manage end\-to\-end review of onboarding files and provide 2nd line quality assurance checks on due diligence for onboarding firms into the ACL network.
Coordinate and work together with internal teams—including onboarding, IT , sales and marketing and wider compliance oversight teams — to support control improvements and address gaps.
Review financial promotions and social media advertisements for ACL and its Appointed Representatives, ensuring completion of checks in line with both FCA standards and automotive industry regulations.
Assist with internal audits and regulatory inquiries from the FCA and ICO.
Conduct periodic audits and quality assurance reviews of financial promotions and social media reviews, escalating findings and recommending corrective actions.
Collate information for relevant Risk and Compliance reporting papers
Provide reliable information, analysis and guidance to the wider organization and it’s Appointed Representatives and Compliance field teams
Arrange and lead meetings, take minutes and progress actions, including follow\-up activities.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, via telephone, MS outlook and MS teams calls
Monitor, assess and measure activities in relation to FCA rules and guidance, helping to demonstrate good customer outcomes, monitoring and reporting to management.
Analyse and summarise monthly MI reports from, providing status updates and recommendations to management
Contribute to the development and completion of the Compliance Monitoring Plan and monitoring activities
Assist in establishing new processes and procedures for continual improvement
Analyse large sets of data to understand and assess risks identified
Provide support to various members of the team, getting involved in ad hoc tasks and projects
Assist the Risk and Compliance team and the wider company as requested.
Keeping up to date with regulatory changes and requirements
Involvement in wider compliance due diligence and monitoring activities and reporting into senior management
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 3\+ years in risk and compliance, Consumer Credit and CONC and ICOBS rules and guidance, in particular financial promotions within financial services—experience in automotive regulation is a strong advantage but not essential.
- Knowledge: Experience of working within Consumer Credit and/ or General insurance and / or working within an Appointed Representative network would be an advantage. Working knowledge of MS applications and systems such as Monday.com/ Salesforce would be beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and risk\-assessment abilities
- Attention to detail with high accuracy in documentation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident in stakeholder engagement
- Qualifications:
- Certifications such as ICA certificate in Governance, Risk \& Compliance, ICA Specialist Certificate in AML, or similar would be an advantage.
- Play a key role in shaping a scalable, risk\-based approach to risk and compliance, in particular financial promotion management. This role is ideally suited to someone who is familiar with the Consumer Credit and automotive sector. The role will allow the opportunity to join a reputable company, scaling for growth and the ability to shape the risk and financial promotions landscape for appointed representatives over the coming years.
