Risk and Compliance Manager

Venner Shipley is a full\-service UK and European IP firm providing advice on Patents, Trade Marks, Copyright and Design and IP litigation to a wide range of clients including well known multi\-national brands, Universities and University spin outs and smaller SMEs or sometimes sole inventors.

The firm has offices in London, Bristol, Cambridge, Guildford, Tunbridge Wells, Madrid, Manchester and Munich.

The Risk and Compliance Manager is a new role created to help the Operations Director manage the operations of the firm efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in law, business, or a related discipline and will have substantial experience in a risk and compliance role within a law firm (5\+years) with a proven track record of developing and implementing compliance frameworks.

You will have a comprehensive knowledge of SRA regulatory requirements, AML and sanctions legislation, data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018\), and professional conduct rules, as well as strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and governance principles.

Excellent organisational, time and project management skills with a good ability to prioritise and get things done are a must, as well having strong written communication skills, especially for drafting, refining, and implementing policies– able to put together documentation that is good quality and has credibility in presenting to senior stakeholders within the business.
