About the Organisation
Lanka UK Pathways Ltd works with independent convenience stores and off\-licence retailers across the UK to support business improvement, workforce development, customer engagement, and community integration initiatives.
The organisation supports independent retailers facing communication, operational, and workforce challenges by providing consultancy, operational guidance, staff development, and community\-focused retail support programmes.
The role involves supporting small retail businesses, including businesses operated by refugee and migrant communities, to improve operational efficiency, customer service standards, staff training, stock management practices, and local community engagement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide operational and business\-development support to independent convenience stores and off\-licence retailers.
Analyse retail business performance and recommend improvements to operational efficiency and customer service standards.
Support retailers with stock management, waste reduction, merchandising, and sales performance improvement.
Assist with staff development, workforce coordination, and onboarding support.
Deliver training and guidance to retail staff on customer service, communication skills, and workplace procedures.
Support implementation of community engagement and socially responsible business initiatives.
Liaise with retail business owners, staff members, suppliers, and local stakeholders.
Prepare business improvement reports, operational assessments, and consultancy recommendations.
Support communication between retail business operators and employees where language or cultural barriers exist.
Assist in developing programmes that encourage social inclusion, employability, and workforce participation within local communities.
Maintain accurate operational and administrative records relating to consultancy services delivered to client businesses.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Retail Management, Community Development, Social Work, or related discipline.
Experience in retail operations, convenience retail, or off\-licence sector operations.
Experience providing business support, operational support, staff coordination, or customer service improvement activities.
Good organisational, communication, and stakeholder\-management skills.
Ability to work with socially and culturally diverse communities.
Ability to prepare reports and operational documentation in English.
Experience working with refugee, asylum seeker, migrant, or socially vulnerable communities.
Knowledge of convenience\-store or independent retail operations within the UK.
Ability to communicate in Tamil to support communication with certain client groups.
Understanding of multicultural community engagement and inclusive business practices.
Experience in workforce development, training delivery, or community\-support projects.
