Retail Assistant
Manchester \| Retail Assistant \| Full\-time \| 37\.5 hours per week
You are the kind of person who naturally likes keeping things in order while making people feel welcome. While browsing a store, you're usually the one noticing how products are displayed, straightening a misplaced item on a shelf, or offering a helpful hand to someone looking for a specific size or style.
If you are looking for a hands\-on store role in Manchester where your reliability, clean presentation standards, and friendly approach count every day, this full\-time position is a great fit. We are expanding our local store team and need a dependable Retail Assistant to help look after our customers, maintain visual standards, and keep daily floor operations running smoothly.
Everyday Store Duties
Working alongside our store supervisors and floor team across our Manchester location, your daily tasks will include:
- Welcoming shoppers, answering product questions, and helping visitors find what they need.
- Operating till systems accurately to handle cash, card payments, exchanges, and store receipts.
- Processing incoming deliveries, checking stock manifests, and unboxing new product lines.
- Replenishing store shelves and clothing racks throughout the day to keep stock levels full.
- Setting up seasonal window displays, promotional signs, and shelf\-edge pricing labels.
- Maintaining clean, safe, and organized fitting rooms, shop floor areas, and till points.
- Assisting with periodic stock takes, inventory audits, and simple floor security checks.
- Collaborating with team members during busy peak trading hours to keep customer waiting times low.
We place far more value on shift dependability, a tidy mindset, and a genuine helpful attitude than on years of prior retail history. We look for:
- A friendly, approachable manner when speaking with customers and colleagues.
- Good attention to detail when handling money, stock counts, and visual displays.
- Strong personal standards regarding punctuality, shift attendance, and pride in your work.
- Comfort working active, floor\-based shifts and keeping busy during quieter store periods.
- A supportive, team\-first attitude during busy trading periods and stock delivery mornings.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, food service, or administration is a plus, but not essential as full training is provided.
We make sure you get clear, hands\-on orientation so you feel confident across every area of the store.
You will begin by pairing up with an experienced staff member to get to grips with our till software, product catalogue, and stockroom layout. Through regular check\-ins with your store manager, you will receive constructive feedback on your floor service, merchandising techniques, and stock control. As your store knowledge grows, you will take ownership of specific product bays, help set up promotional launches, and build skills toward shift supervisor duties.
