About the Role
Umami Fresh Burger is looking for an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead our restaurant.
You will take overall responsibility for the restaurant’s performance, including team leadership, customer experience, food quality, sales, labour costs, stock control and operational compliance.
This is a hands\-on management position requiring experience in smash\-burger preparation and grill operations, with a strong understanding of food quality, product consistency and presentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the restaurant’s day\-to\-day operations.
- Lead, train, coach and support managers and team members.
- Oversee smash\-burger preparation and grill operations, ensuring food quality, product consistency and presentation standards are maintained.
- Deliver excellent standards of food quality, presentation, service and cleanliness.
- Prepare effective staff rotas and manage labour cost percentages.
- Monitor sales performance and work towards agreed business targets.
- Manage stock ordering, deliveries, inventory counts and waste control.
- Recruit, onboard and develop new employees.
- Conduct performance reviews and address employee concerns appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety requirements.
- Oversee cash handling, banking, till controls and restaurant security.
- Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Review restaurant performance and implement improvements where necessary.
- Provide accurate operational reports to the senior management team.
- Build a positive, professional and accountable working environment.
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Restaurant Manager or Store Manager.
- Management experience within hospitality, food service or a quick\-service restaurant.
- Experience in smash\-burger preparation and grill operations, with a strong understanding of food quality, product consistency and presentation standards.
- Strong leadership, coaching and team\-development skills.
- Experience managing sales, labour, stock, waste and operational targets.
- Good commercial awareness and sound decision\-making ability.
- Strong organisational and problem\-solving skills.
- Clear and professional communication.
- A practical, hands\-on approach to restaurant management.
- Good knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
