Job Overview

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Residential Care Workers to provide high\-quality, safe, and child\-centred care to children and young people within a residential care setting. This role involves supporting children with their daily routines, emotional wellbeing, education, and personal development while helping to maintain a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people, strong safeguarding awareness, and the ability to build positive and professional relationships. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children by promoting safety, stability, confidence, and independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, nurturing, and consistent care to children and young people

  • Support children with daily routines, meals, education, appointments, and activities

  • Promote positive behaviour, routines, boundaries, and expectations within the home

  • Build trusting and professional relationships with children, even during short\-notice shifts

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times

  • Follow safeguarding procedures, policies, and escalation pathways

  • Report concerns, incidents, injuries, or disclosures promptly and accurately

  • Complete daily logs, handovers, incident reports, and care records to the required standard

  • Support children using trauma\-informed approaches and de\-escalation strategies

  • Work collaboratively with permanent staff, agency workers, and management teams

  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times

  • Support a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in line with health and safety standards

  • Follow risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and care plans consistently

  • Administer medication where trained and authorised

  • Promote healthy lifestyles, emotional wellbeing, and independence

  • Participate in training, debriefs, and team discussions as required
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people within residential care, childcare, or support settings is desirable

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in challenging situations

  • Flexible approach to working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and short\-notice cover

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from senior staff

  • Good written and IT skills for record keeping and reporting

  • Compassionate, reliable, and child\-centred approach

  • Understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and safer working practices

  • Willingness to complete mandatory training and follow organisational policies and procedures

  • Valid driving licence desirable but not essential
Pay: £26,325\.00\-£34,050\.00 per year
