Job Details

This is far from a typical role. You’ll be part of a Complex Care Service supporting adults with autism and complex behaviours, where individuals may experience high levels of anxiety or distress and rely on consistent, structured support to feel safe and secure.

You’ll join a skilled, close\-knit team that works together, staying calm under pressure while bringing energy, humour and creativity to every shift. If you thrive in a role where no two days are the same, where teamwork is essential, and where your contribution has a real and lasting impact, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference.

You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, working closely with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists to deliver consistent, person\-centred support.

As a Care Assistant, you will support people to live safely and as independently as possible in their own homes. Using clear communication, structure and consistency, you will help individuals manage anxiety and navigate daily challenges with confidence. You’ll play a key role in fostering a positive, supportive team culture while promoting social inclusion and meaningful community engagement.

The role also involves supporting essential daily living skills such as personal care, cooking, shopping, attending appointments and managing medication. You will maintain accurate records and contribute to person\-centred support plans that reflect everyone's needs and aspirations. Full training is provided, including Physical Intervention and Escape Techniques, and you should be physically able to undertake this training as part of the role.

The Person

Your role will involve working a range of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, sleep\-ins, wakened nights, and public holidays such as Christmas and New Year. Flexibility is essential to ensure we can meet the changing needs of the people we support.

We’re looking for individuals who bring strong communication skills and a genuine team focus, with the ability to stay calm, think clearly, and remain solution\-focused in challenging situations. You will need basic IT and literacy skills, alongside a positive attitude and a clear commitment to delivering high\-quality, person\-centred support.

This is a role for people who are confident, resilient, and able to respond effectively in fast\-paced, ever\-changing environments. Those with experience in structured settings, working with clear boundaries, managing risk, or operating under pressure are ideal, but above all, we value compassion, emotional resilience, and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.

A link to the role profile is included at the bottom of the advert. You will find out more about the job and the type of person we are looking for.

You must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of taking up employment in this role.

You will be supported to achieve the qualifications required for practice, including the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 (SVQ2\) or an equivalent award, within your initial registration period to meet Scottish Social Services Council requirements.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
