About the role
The Regulatory \& Homologation Manager will ensure European regulations are properly implemented, provide early guidance on upcoming laws, and support or lead compliance risk management. The role acts as a key liaison between BYD and European authorities, technical services, and industry bodies, enabling smooth market access and consistent production compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- European Regulatory \& Certification Coordination
+ Ensure regulatory requirements are effectively localized and implemented in collaboration with internal teams.
+ Act as a central point of contact for European authorities and technical service organizations.
- Regulatory Monitoring \& Impact Analysis
+ Evaluate the impact of new or updated regulations on product design, development, and production.
+ Provide timely guidance to business, R\&D, and manufacturing teams, ensuring regulatory foresight.
- Conformity of Production (CoP) Support
+ Identify compliance risks, recommend corrective measures, and ensure mass\-produced vehicles meet approved certifications.
- Compliance Risk \& Incident Management
+ Coordinate internally and externally to resolve regulatory events efficiently and in line with requirements.
- Stakeholder \& Authority Engagement
+ Participate in discussions on regulatory changes and standards to influence BYD’s compliance strategy.
- Process Improvement \& Internal Alignment
+ Establish regular communication channels with country teams across Europe to ensure aligned regulatory practices.
Required skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field.
- 8\+ years in automotive regulatory compliance, homologation, or type approval, preferably with OEMs or recognized technical service organizations (e.g., TÜV, IDIADA). Experience in government or official laboratories is a plus.
- Hands\-on experience with whole vehicle compliance in passenger vehicles, including new energy or electrified platforms.
- Strong ability to analyze regulations, identify compliance risks, and translate requirements into actionable internal plans.
- Experience supporting or managing compliance risk events, recalls, or regulatory investigations.
- Familiarity with intelligent and automated vehicle systems (ADAS, automated driving) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and cross\-functional project management skills.
- Fluency in English; additional European languages (Dutch, German, Spanish) are a plus.
- Preferred: Existing European regulatory networks or contacts in authorities and technical services.
