We are seeking an enthusiastic, team\-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Deane Vets, Taunton, on a full\-time basis. This is a temporary contract to cover maternity leave, with the potential to extend.
Deane Vets are a close\-knit, caring small animal practice on the outskirts of Taunton. Our team includes 3 receptionists, 6 vets, 8 registered veterinary nurses — and we all work together to provide the best care possible. We’re a busy but happy place to work.
How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high\-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.
You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.
This is a full\-time position working 40 hours per week. Shifts are nine hours long, including a one\-hour unpaid lunch break, and fall between 8 am and 7 pm. There is no weekday out\-of\-hours requirement.
Weekend duty cover is required, with daytime weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 7 pm on a 1\-in\-8 rota, and time off in lieu (TOIL) is given as a paid day the following week. Additionally, the role requires working every other Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm, with TOIL provided in the week before.

We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
