Following the continued growth and restructure of Nova’s Commercial Division, we are now recruiting for a Regional Operations Manager to support our expanding commercial portfolio.

Regional Operations Manager – Commercial Cleaning

Nova Management Services Ltd is looking for an experienced, organised and people\-focused Regional Operations Manager to join our growing Commercial Cleaning Division.

This is a key operational leadership role responsible for supporting the delivery of a commercial cleaning portfolio of approximately £1\.2M annual contract value, across offices, schools, hospitality, gyms and commercial premises.

You will support and manage a team of approximately50\-60 cleaning operatives across multiple client sites, ensuring high standards, strong client relationships, efficient staffing, compliance, quality control and consistent service delivery.

This is a hybrid role, combining office\-based planning, field\-based site visits and remote administrative work.

About the Role

As Regional Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day\-to\-day operational performance of a portfolio of commercial cleaning contracts.

You will work closely with Nova’s Commercial Managing Director and wider management team to ensure that all client sites are well\-managed, fully staffed, compliant, profitable and delivered to the standards expected by Nova and our clients.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both hands\-on in the field and organised behind the scenes. You will not be based only at a desk. You will regularly visit sites, support cleaning teams, meet clients, carry out audits, solve operational problems and ensure standards are consistently maintained.

Working Pattern

This is a hybrid role. Your week will usually include:

  • 2–3 days per week visiting client sites

  • 2–3 days per week working from the office

  • Some flexibility for remote planning, reporting and administration where appropriate
The role requires regular travel between sites, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

During busy periods, including mobilisation of new contracts, staff cover issues, client escalations or operational emergencies, flexibility may be required.

Key Responsibilities Operational Management

You will:

  • Oversee the day\-to\-day performance of multiple commercial cleaning contracts

  • Ensure all sites are operating to the required service specification

  • Monitor contract performance, staffing levels, cleaning standards and client satisfaction

  • Identify operational issues early and take practical action to resolve them

  • Ensure site teams have the correct information, equipment, materials and support

  • Support the mobilisation of new contracts and setup of new cleaning sites

  • Review site productivity, hours, rotas and service delivery efficiency

  • Ensure operational processes are followed consistently across all sites

  • Maintain a strong field presence and act as a visible leader for the teams
People Management

You will be responsible for supporting and managing cleaning teams across multiple locations.

This will include:

  • Managing approximately 50\-60 cleaning operatives

  • Supporting supervisors, team leaders and site\-based staff

  • Conducting regular check\-ins with cleaning teams

  • Helping with recruitment, onboarding and training of new operatives

  • Supporting staff performance management where required

  • Addressing attendance, punctuality, conduct and quality issues

  • Ensuring staff understand site expectations and company standards

  • Building a culture of accountability, respect, professionalism and pride in work

  • Supporting staff retention by creating clear communication and fair management

  • Escalating HR matters appropriately to senior management
Client Relationship Management

You will act as a key operational contact for clients.

You will:

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients

  • Attend client meetings where required

  • Respond to client queries, concerns and service feedback

  • Handle service complaints professionally and efficiently

  • Provide updates on operational performance and improvement actions

  • Identify opportunities to improve client satisfaction

  • Support contract retention by ensuring clients feel listened to and supported

  • Represent Nova professionally at all times
Site Visits and Audits

A major part of this role will be visiting sites and checking standards.

You will:

  • Carry out regular site visits across the region

  • Complete quality audits and site inspection reports

  • Check cleaning standards against client specifications

  • Identify defects, recurring issues and areas for improvement

  • Ensure corrective actions are completed promptly

  • Review equipment, chemicals, stock and site presentation

  • Ensure site folders, risk assessments, COSHH information and compliance records are maintained where required

  • Provide feedback and coaching to staff following site visits

  • Take before\-and\-after evidence where needed

  • Ensure sites are client\-ready and inspection\-ready
Staffing, Rotas and Cover

You will support effective workforce planning across the region.

This includes:

  • Ensuring sites are correctly staffed according to contract requirements

  • Managing cover for sickness, holidays, absence and vacancies

  • Supporting rota planning and shift allocation

  • Liaising with internal teams regarding recruitment needs

  • Ensuring staff hours match contract budgets where possible

  • Reducing unnecessary overtime or inefficient staffing

  • Supporting urgent cover arrangements when service delivery is at risk

  • Ensuring teams understand start times, tasks and expectations
Compliance and Health \& Safety

You will help ensure Nova’s commercial sites remain compliant and safe.

You will:

  • Support compliance with health and safety requirements

  • Ensure cleaning teams follow safe working procedures

  • Check that COSHH guidance is understood and followed

  • Ensure correct use of PPE, chemicals and equipment

  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses

  • Support risk assessment and method statement compliance

  • Ensure site\-specific rules are followed

  • Identify unsafe practices and take corrective action

  • Promote a safety\-first culture across the teams
Systems, Reporting and Administration

This is a hybrid role, so strong administration and reporting are essential.

You will:

  • Use company systems for reporting, audits, staff updates and operational tracking

  • Maintain accurate site visit reports

  • Record actions, issues and follow\-ups clearly

  • Provide operational updates to the Commercial Managing Director

  • Track complaints, service issues and corrective actions

  • Support KPI reporting and performance reviews

  • Use Microsoft Office, email, forms, spreadsheets and digital platforms confidently

  • Ensure information is accurate, timely and professionally presented

  • Keep records organised and up to date
Financial and Commercial Awareness

You do not need to be an accountant, but you must understand that operations affect profitability.

You will:

  • Support delivery of contracts within agreed hours and budgets

  • Monitor staffing levels against contract requirements

  • Identify where sites are over\-serviced or under\-resourced

  • Support cost control through efficient planning

  • Highlight risks that may affect margin, client retention or service quality

  • Support contract reviews and operational improvements

  • Understand the importance of balancing service quality with commercial performance

We are looking for someone who has experience in cleaning operations, facilities management, contract cleaning, soft services, hospitality operations or multi\-site service delivery.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing people, visiting sites, dealing with clients, solving problems and keeping operations running smoothly.

You must be comfortable moving between office work and field work. This is not a fully remote role and not a desk\-only role.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience in cleaning operations, facilities management, soft services or multi\-site operations
