The post holder will work within North Yorkshire Council’s Active North Yorkshire team to provide excellent front\-line services to leisure centre visitors. Either based at one site or multiple sites, the post holder will be line managed by the Duty Manager and/or other members of the Management Team. As the first point of contact for all visitors to the leisure centre, the role requires excellent customer care skills and co ordination of a range of administrative tasks whilst following North Yorkshire Council’s policies and procedures at all times.
- Confidently operate the telephone system and positively respond to customer queries, e\-mails and social media messages.
- Follow Leisure Centre Safety Operating Procedures (CSOP’s) and control the safety of all customers within the centre, including assigned tasks in emergency and evacuation situations.
- Ensure that the reception area is safe, clean and welcoming by carrying out general cleaning and housekeeping duties.
- Practice and promote effective communications. Keep updated on changes to systems and processes through e\-mails, bulletins, team meetings and direct instruction from the leisure centre management team.
- Be responsible for the taking of monies and issuing of receipts in accordance with approved fees and charges and operational procedures.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are reconciled following the centres cashing up procedures.
- Contribute to service improvements of leisure services and assist in the development of a customer focused culture within the council. Act as a trainer for receptionists new of the job.
- Deal with customer complaints, ensuring diplomacy to sensitive matters and promptly advise line manager of any problems which may affect the ability of the centre to provide a high\-quality service.
- Wear staff issued uniform and always ensure professional appearance whilst at work.
- Carry out sales tours of the facility and follow up membership enquiries in line with the centre’s sales process:
- Co\-ordinate sales appointments and attend regular sales training as required.
- Complete the sale/signup of new/returning members.
- Have excellent knowledge of all membership products, including details of promotional offers and sales targets.
- To carry out other duties relevant to and commensurate with the pay grade of the post.
- Verify and store documents, keep records and organise filing, in line with the centres quality record system and fulfil administrative duties as directed.
- Have detailed understanding, knowledge, application of and maintain the management information system.
- Exercise proper integrity in respect of confidential matters and personal information at all times following the centres policies relating to GDPR related to the duties of the post
