R&D Engineer (Biomedical)
Position Overview
We’re on the lookout for exceptionally talented technical innovators with a first\-class degree or PhD in engineering, physical sciences, mathematical sciences, or related discipline to join our Life Sciences R\&D team. You will join a team of expert engineers and scientists working on unusual, exciting projects to break new ground in medical devices and biotechnology across European and US markets.
We welcome applications from outstanding candidates at a range of career stages, from recent graduates through to individuals with several years of experience in industry or academia.
A typical week developing medical technologies might include:
- Planning experiments and designing test rigs (30%)
- Computational modelling, simulation and data analysis e.g. FEA, CFD, mathematical modelling, Python or AI\-based analysis (30%)
- Ideating and prototyping novel designs (20%)
- Collaborating with clients and university technology labs (10%)
- Reading scientific literature to explore new ideas and techniques (10%)

Principal Responsibilities
- Planning and executing experiments, modelling, and analysis to solve complex multidisciplinary problems
- Ideating and building novel tools, methods, and solutions for our medical \& pharma clients
- Supporting nonclinical, preclinical and clinical development
- Collaborating with other science and technology experts
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- First\-class engineering degree or similar (PhD is a bonus)
- Experience in either test rig design and hands\-on experiments, or computational modelling
- Proactivity and enthusiasm for problem solving and personal growth
- CAD modelling experience
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders
Desirable
- Demonstrable impact on projects is more important than number of years’ experience
- Biomedical or clinical work experience
- Familiarity with imaging modalities (e.g. MRI, CT, ultrasound, photoacoustic, synchrotron)
- Capable of quickly and critically reviewing scientific papers or technical documents
- Coding experience (e.g. Python, Matlab)
- Comfortable with AI\-based productivity tools (for research, analysis, and coding)
