Purpose of Role:
Assembly Solutions Ltd is a UK\-based subcontract manufacturer of cable assemblies, wiring harnesses and control panels. We are looking for a practical, shopfloor\-focused Quality Engineer to help improve quality performance across the business.
The focus of the role is reject analysis, root cause investigation, customer complaint management, audits, corrective action, 5S, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
The role has been created to strengthen how we analyse defects, manage customer complaints, identify repeat issues and drive corrective action through to completion. We want someone who can turn quality data into practical improvement activity and help prevent the same problems from recurring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse internal rejects and identify repeat defect trends.
- Lead root cause investigations for significant or recurring quality issues.
- Manage the customer complaint process from receipt through to closure.
- Coordinate containment, corrective action and effectiveness checks.
- Carry out internal audits across all departments.
- Support customer audits and help close out any findings.
- Carry out supplier audits where required.
- Drive 5S, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activity.
- Produce clear quality performance reports and improvement updates.
- Work with Production, Quality, Technical, Warehouse and Purchasing to improve process control.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and comfortable working directly with people on the shop floor. You will need to be able to challenge poor process control in the right way, follow actions through to completion and use data to identify where improvement is needed.
You should be confident investigating problems, asking “why”, and making sure corrective actions actually prevent recurrence.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a quality, manufacturing or continuous improvement role.
- Experience investigating defects, rejects or customer complaints.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Ability to analyse data and identify trends.
- Experience carrying out audits or checking process compliance.
- Strong communication skills across production and management teams.
- Practical approach to problem solving.
- Good attention to detail and follow\-up discipline.
- ISO 9001 internal auditor experience.
- Experience supporting customer or supplier audits.
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools.
- Experience using 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa or similar problem\-solving methods.
- Experience in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction.
- Experience managing customer complaints.
Experience in cable assembly, wiring harness, electronics, automotive or similar manufacturing.
Summary
This role would suit someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working with production teams to prevent defects at source. We are looking for someone who can help move Quality from detection to prevention.
