Salary Range: £45,000\-£55,000 depending on experience
About the role:
YPP is continuing to grow, and we are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Purchasing Manager to establish and lead our new centralised purchasing function.
This is a hands\-on and influential role for someone who is passionate about achieving value, not simply processing purchase orders. You will enjoy researching markets, challenging costs, negotiating with suppliers and identifying smarter, more efficient ways for the business to purchase goods and services.
Working across the YPP Group, you will bring purchasing activity together into one central function and use our combined buying power to secure competitive pricing, build strong supplier relationships and improve control over expenditure.
Your main objective will be clear: to deliver measurable and sustainable savings across the Group while ensuring our teams receive the quality, service and support they need.
Key responsibilities include:
You will take ownership of day\-to\-day operational purchasing across YPP Group and work directly with Department Heads and Finance to:
- Research and benchmark suppliers and pricing.
- Negotiate better prices and commercial terms.
- Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations.
- Challenge existing supplier arrangements and price increases.
- Consolidate purchasing across departments and properties.
- Identify opportunities for bulk purchasing and preferred supplier agreements.
- Find alternative products and suppliers that deliver better value without compromising quality.
- Manage purchase requests through to order and delivery.
- Develop and maintain an approved supplier network.
- Monitor supplier performance, pricing and service levels.
- Review operational contracts and upcoming renewals.
- Identify unnecessary or duplicate expenditure.
- Work with departments to identify continuous cost\-saving opportunities.
- Track and report savings achieved.
- Provide monthly purchasing and savings reporting to management.
- Commercially astute and focused on delivering value.
- Skilled in supplier and market research
- A confident negotiator.
- Analytical and logical.
- Naturally curious and willing to challenge existing ways of working.
- Comfortable comparing suppliers, products and commercial terms.
- Proactive and able to work independently.
- Organised and capable of managing multiple purchasing requirements.
- Confident working with Department Heads and senior stakeholders.
- Professional, collaborative and respectful in their approach.
- Demonstrable experience in a purchasing, procurement or buying position.
- A proven track record of negotiating with suppliers and securing favourable commercial terms.
- Experience obtaining and evaluating competitive quotations.
- Strong Excel and data\-analysis skills.
- A good understanding of budgets, expenditure and commercial decision\-making.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers and purchasing categories.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across different departments.
- Experience within property, facilities management, student accommodation, hospitality or another multi\-site business would be advantageous but is not essential.
Pay: £45,000\.00\-£55,000\.00 per year
