A little more about the role..
You will be joining our expanding UK Building Structures team, as a Growth Director with accountability for developing the Bristol, its surrounding counties and the southwest strategic pipeline, e.g. total value and number of qualified opportunities added), Net revenue growth (e.g., total value for the region and for relevant specific accounts), new clients secured and service diversification (e.g., growth from cross\-selling project management and advisory services. You will also support the technical leadership and delivery of schemes from inception through to handover of the completed scheme to the client.
The primary focus of this role is to complement the efforts of our P\&B Structures team and the P\&B delivery teams in the South West and Wales region in their work to meet the business’s growth objectives of 10% per annum.
The South West and Wales region includes offices, resource and clients in the South West of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Offices are in Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter and Belfast.
The key stakeholders relating to the role are the Managing Director Building Structures UK, , Head of South, the South West and Wales Structures Discipline Team Leader, office leads, sector leads and key account managers, in addition to the wider Strategic Growth team.
The role encompasses the following:
- Through direct engagement in the regional market, develop relationships on behalf of WSP with client decision makers and influencers (including end users, procurement departments, and potential contractor/ architect/ other partners).
- Uncover emerging drivers and trends in the public and private sector that will impact on regional investment and client spend
- Understand client perception of WSP in the region and (with colleagues in Public Affairs and Marketing/ Communications and discipline leads) position WSP as a trusted partner of choice, linked to UK growth themes.
- Understand the relevant UK and regional public sector procurement routes, the main buyers associated with those frameworks and areas of likely spend.
- Identify significant cross\-business opportunities in region, working with SBU stakeholders and the Strategic Growth team to build/ prioritise the pipeline.
- Position the business for these opportunities, taking the lead on (or supporting) capture planning including the gathering of market/competitor intelligence, development of alliancing/ partnering strategies, front\-end positioning activities with clients to uncover drivers/ objectives and WSP’s competitive position.
- Help coordinate local WSP client relationships across disciplines, developing the strategy to drive overall business/ organic growth with the client.
- Support WSP key account managers in region by sharing market intelligence, building new client relationships, and identifying opportunities to increase cross\-discipline revenue growth.
- Obtain regular client feedback from key accounts, helping to resolve client care issues.
- Act as Project Director on selected projects relevant to your experience and client relationships

- Excellent inter\-personal skills, with good leadership potential capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team, stakeholders \& clients.
- Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE/ AMIStructE/ MICE)
- Significant experience of team management responsibilities including line management and day\-to\-day operations
