This role supports both male and female participants through separate gender\-specific cohorts. As a significant proportion of the role involves delivering trauma\-informed support to women and girls aged 16\-25, many of whom who have experienced abuse, violence and other gender\-specific issues, this position is open to women only under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, as being female is considered a Genuine Occupational Requirement for this role.

Step Together Volunteering is proud to work alongside Avon \& Somerset Police's Deferred Prosecution Service and RISE Mutual, supporting young men aged 18\-24 at risk of offending to develop positive pathways forward. We are also delighted to have secured repeat funding from The National Lottery, following its support of our pilot programme in 2025\. This funding will help us expand our reach to young women and girls aged 16\-25 across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Building on over 30 years’ experience of supporting young people, we are looking to recruit an experienced individual to join our Youth Justice team, to primarily deliver our bespoke six\-week training programme, 'For My Future'.

You will be responsible for coaching young men and women from a wide range of ethnicities and background including those from the BAME community and be someone who understands the challenges they face growing up in some of the region's most deprived areas.

The role is based in Bristol where the majority of clients will live, however, our support covers all of the Avon \& Somerset Police Force area. We hope to appoint someone who is already based in this location, with a good knowledge of support available to young people.

The post is initially offered on a one year fixed term contract, ideally working around 21 hours a week between Monday to Friday at agreed fixed times, or up to 28 hours if you are likely to have relevant experience and need more working hours. The post is subject to ongoing funding thereafter and will be reviewed at the appropriate time.

You will have responsibility for planning and delivering the virtual course on Teams from home, but you can expect to be also delivering some in\-person, 1:1 delivery when this is not possible.

A car is therefore essential, and you can expect to have some occasional travel across the Avon \& Somerset Police Force area to meet clients safely within their community. You don't have to be a qualified trainer or tutor to deliver our programme.

Your experience of working with this cohort of young people is more important, which will include an understanding of early intervention programmes, 1:1 person\-centred support and group youth work. You might even have personal lived experience and are wanting a role where you can give something back.

Delivering the courses across different gender cohorts, you will have the opportunity to adapt and develop the course to ensure it meets the needs of young men and women.

Salary \& Benefits: Salary as above, dependant upon working hours, plus 33 days annual leave including bank holidays (FTE, pro rata for part\-time) and additional time off at Christmas.
