Project Leader – Steady Ground \| Young Adults 18\+

Young People Relate (YPR)
Service: Steady Ground – Young Adults 18\+

Young People Relate (YPR) is looking for an experienced, highly competent and proactive Project Leader to lead our Steady Ground programme, supporting young adults aged 18 and over.

Steady Ground provides structured, person\-centred support for young adults, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEND, learning challenges and complex needs.

This is not simply a supervision role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the programme, understand the individual needs and targeted outcomes of each young person, and create engaging opportunities that promote independence, confidence, communication, social development and positive relationships.

The Role

As Project Leader, you will take responsibility for planning and delivering a varied programme of purposeful group sessions, community activities and developmental opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and leading structured engagement sessions, activities, outings and workshops.

  • Developing activities that encourage team building, social interaction, independence and life skills.

  • Creating a positive, inclusive and engaging group environment.

  • Supporting young adults with ASD, SEND, learning challenges and complex needs.

  • Understanding each young person's strengths, communication needs, behaviours, interests and support requirements.

  • Taking a proactive and person\-centred approach rather than providing passive supervision.

  • Reading and understanding care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and agreed strategies.

  • Planning sessions around the individual aims and targeted outcomes identified for each young person.

  • Monitoring progress and adapting activities or interventions where required.

  • Maintaining accurate, professional records of engagement, progress, incidents and outcomes.

  • Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and professional boundaries remain central to service delivery.
Partnership Working

The Project Leader will act as an important link between YPR, the young adult and their wider support network.

You will be expected to:

  • Build positive professional relationships with parents and carers.

  • Communicate effectively with social workers and other professionals.

  • Attend reviews, planning meetings and multi\-agency meetings where required.

  • Provide clear updates on progress, engagement and areas of concern.

  • Contribute to discussions about future goals and support needs.
What We Are Looking For

Essential / Highly Desirable:

  • Experience supporting young adults with complex needs, ASD and/or SEND.

  • Experience planning and leading group activities or engagement programmes.

  • Strong understanding of person\-centred practice.

  • Ability to confidently lead and motivate both young adults and supporting staff.

  • Excellent organisation and activity\-planning skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret care plans and work towards measurable outcomes.

  • Strong safeguarding awareness.

  • Calm, resilient and confident when managing challenging or unpredictable situations.

  • Proactive, creative and able to use initiative.

  • Ability to work effectively with parents, social workers and multidisciplinary professionals.
A relevant qualification in Health \& Social Care, Youth Work, Education, SEND, Community Work or a related field would be advantageous.

Why Join YPR?

We are looking for someone who can bring energy, structure, creativity and leadership to Steady Ground while ensuring every young adult is treated as an individual.

If you are passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for young adults and have the confidence to lead a developing programme, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today to join YPR as our Steady Ground Project Leader.
