Project Lead - Specialist Trades
ROLE OVERVIEW
BELFOR provides property restoration and reinstatement services to major insurance clients following fire, flood and other insured events. The Project Lead – Specialist Trades is responsible for the planning, coordination and on\-site delivery of reinstatement works delivered by qualified gas, electrical and plumbing trades.
This role manages a small, mobile team of specialist trades, ensuring that all technical works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and to the highest quality standards, while supporting excellent customer and insurer experience across multiple live restoration projects.
ROLE PURPOSE
To lead and manage specialist gas, electrical and plumbing trades to successfully deliver reinstatement works by:
- Planning and deploying skilled resources effectively
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory, safety and technical requirements
- Maintaining strong communication with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders
- Driving consistent quality, efficiency and professionalism across all sites
Specialist Trade Delivery \& Project Management
- Manage and coordinate gas, electrical and plumbing trades across multiple reinstatement projects.
- Plan works, allocate resources and monitor progress to ensure completion within agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Oversee multiple live sites, ensuring technical works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
- Identify risks, constraints or delays and take proactive action to resolve issues.
- Ensure all gas, electrical and plumbing works comply with current legislation, building regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with Gasafe Register and NAPIT registrations including registration and removal of employees and overseeing all staff training is up \-to\-date
- Confirm appropriate certification, testing and commissioning is completed and recorded (e.g. gas safety, electrical testing).
- Act as the technical point of escalation for specialist trade issues on site.
- Ensure full compliance with BELFOR Quality, Management and Health \& Safety systems.
- Maintain safe, well\-organised sites with correct PPE usage, signage and hazard controls.
- Escalate any breaches of safety or company standards immediately and support investigations where required.
- Lead, mentor and support specialist trades, promoting high\-quality workmanship and professional standards.
- Monitor performance, attendance and conduct of trade teams, addressing issues promptly and constructively.
- Share best practice and recommend improvements to working methods, materials and processes.
- Build strong working relationships with Admin teams, Operations Managers and Field Staff.
- Communicate progress, risks and actions clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Engage professionally with external stakeholders including Loss Adjusters, Insurers and Customers to build confidence in BELFOR services.
- Support a positive customer experience throughout the reinstatement journey.
- Ensure all on\-site documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including:
- Handyman/job system entries
- Materials usage and variations
- Compliance and certification records
- Ensure all information is uploaded and synchronised before leaving site.
- Ensure company vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
- Ensure tools, plant and equipment are available, correctly maintained calibrated, serviced and PAT tested.
- Confirm trade teams are appropriately equipped to deliver their scope of works.
- Support Operations Managers with scheduling, progress reporting and resource planning.
- Work flexibly across residential and commercial projects and across UK sites when required.
- Provide operational support during surge events and changing business demands.
- Background in a building services trade, with strong knowledge of gas, electrical or plumbing works
- Proven experience leading and managing specialist trade teams.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Customer\-focused approach with the ability to represent the business professionally.
- Strong understanding of building regulations, safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in one of the three core trades (e.g. Current ACS alongside Gas Safety Management Level 3, 18th Edition)
