Location: Derby (Office Based) with occasional UK travel
Salary: £35,000 \- £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:30
About Us
Millennium Site Services UK Ltd is a growing engineering business specialising in railway repair, refurbishment, and maintenance solutions across the UK. We are looking for an organised and technically minded Project Manager / Project Engineer to join our Derby team and support the successful delivery of rail engineering projects nationwide.
The Role
This is a hands\-on role combining project management and engineering responsibilities. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering railway repair and refurbishment projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Based at our Derby office, you will work closely with customers, suppliers, workshop teams, and subcontractors to ensure projects run smoothly from initial quotation through to completion.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Manage railway repair and refurbishment projects from start to finish.
- Develop project plans, schedules, resource requirements, and budgets.
- Monitor progress and take corrective action where required.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure successful project delivery.
- Prepare project updates, reports, and performance metrics.
- Develop and improve repair and refurbishment processes.
- Support technical investigations and fault\-finding activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and work instructions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across workshop and production operations.
- Ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with railway industry standards and customer requirements.
- Support risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the business.
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate technicians, engineers, and subcontractors across multiple projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to operational teams.
- Assist with training and development activities where appropriate.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, or refurbishment projects.
- Strong organisational and project planning skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience within the railway, rolling stock, heavy engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance sectors.
- Knowledge of railway standards and compliance requirements.
- PRINCE2, PMP, or other project management qualifications.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
