Project Controller
About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Controller to work for our client within the defence and engineering sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based primarily in Crawley, with flexibility for candidates based in Bristol or Reading.
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Controller to join a well\-established and mature shipbuilding programme. This role will sit within a small, high\-performing project controls team and will play a key role in supporting delivery through effective planning, reporting, and control processes. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute immediately across a broad range of project controls activities and work closely with stakeholders across the programme.
Responsibilities:
- Support delivery of project controls activities including planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting
- Maintain and update project schedules, ensuring accuracy and alignment with programme milestones
- Contribute to risk and issue management processes, ensuring visibility and mitigation planning
- Support change control processes, ensuring impacts are captured and communicated effectively
- Produce high\-quality reports and insights to support programme decision\-making

- Strong background in project controls within complex programmes
- Experience working with planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera (P6\) or similar
- Solid understanding of risk, change control, and project reporting processes
- Ability to work independently in a small team environment and contribute across multiple disciplines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Minimum 5\+ years’ experience in project controls or a similar role
- Ability to be on\-site in Crawley 3 days per week
- Willingness to travel as required, including occasional co\-location and international travel (Netherlands)
- Experience within defence, engineering, or highly regulated environments is advantageous
- Candidates must be eligible for security clearance (SC)
